L’histoire du Groupe COMET débute en 1986 avec la reprise par Alfred Grosjean des chantiers PARIDANS à Aubange et du chantier Bodson à Châtelet en 1987.

Très vite, les tonnages augmentent et le chantier prend de l’ampleur. En 1988, la Compagnie des Métaux de la Sambre (plus connue aujourd’hui sous le nom COMETSAMBRE) est créée, suivie quatre ans plus tard par RECYMET, marquant ainsi les prémices du Groupe COMET. La même année, Pierre Grosjean, le fils d’Alfred Grosjean reprend la direction après plusieurs années sur le terrain à apprendre les rouages du métier.

Durant 5 ans, il continua à développer l’activité qui sera finalement reprise par son frère Philippe Grosjean en 1997.

Le Groupe COMET a rapidement consolidé sa position et a ressenti le besoin de s’agrandir et de développer ses activités. Au travers du rachat et de la création de sociétés, le Groupe a renforcé sa place sur le marché des ferreux et non-ferreux mais a également étendu son expertise à d’autres domaines d’activités liés au recyclage.

Aujourd’hui, le Groupe COMET compte une trentaine de sociétés implantées sur les territoires belge et français. Il dispose d’installations performantes lui permettant d’atteindre des taux de recyclage inégalés.
